Hey folks,
I’m hoping to pick this community’s brain a bit. My team’s been told to really step up our off-site traffic game lately, and management set up a commission structure based on clicks from tracked links.
For the past two weeks, we’ve just been posting links organically across Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram — no discounts, no special offers, just straight links.
The results have been rough. On our best day, one product might hit 30 clicks. Most days we’re looking at 3–4 total. Now they want us hitting 100 clicks a day across 5 products by next month, and I’m pretty sure just spamming links isn’t gonna get us there.
I’m looking for real, actionable channels or tactics that actually work beyond the big four social platforms. Tools, platforms, underrated strategies — I’ll take anything that’s moved the needle for you.
Here’s what people have shared so far that’s been helpful:
Facebook / Groups
Facebook isn’t just about dropping links. You need strong hooks — copy that speaks to pain points, good visuals or short videos, and tight, punchy headlines. If copy isn’t your strong suit, partnering with active group admins (focused on engagement, not just size) often performs better than posting on your own.
Deal & coupon sites
Depending on your product, deal sites can drive solid traffic. Slickdeals, DealNews, and similar sites have huge audiences but are competitive. If you’re just starting out, smaller niche deal sites can give better conversion with less noise. Just make sure their audience actually lines up with what you’re selling.
A competitive price can make a huge difference here.
Reddit (proceed with caution)
Reddit has massive potential, but it’s not a link-dumping zone. Each sub has its own rules, and being too promotional will get you banned quickly. Focus on engaging genuinely first, adding value to conversations, and only promoting when it makes sense — treat it like a forum, not an ad platform.
Paid ads are usually the reliable play
After a few years doing off-site promotion, the most consistent way to drive volume is still paid ads. The cost per exposure is often lower than people assume, and you can get way better results with a reasonable ad budget than spending that same labor on manual posting.
If you need predictable numbers, ad spend is almost necessary — organic alone won’t hit aggressive goals without an established audience.
Search ads & retargeting
For fast, high-intent traffic:
-
Google Ads to target people actively searching for your products
-
Microsoft Ads (Bing) for less competition and lower CPC
-
Retargeting to reach people who already visited your site but didn’t convert
Retargeting is especially cost-effective and usually has strong ROI. SEO and display ads are also worth testing long-term.
Micro-influencers
Reach out to niche influencers for shoutouts. If you have budget, you can pay them; if not, many will work for free products. Micro-influencers are often more affordable and have higher engagement than bigger names.
You can also have them create content you can reuse for organic posts or ads.
Be real about organic reach
Getting traction without discounts or ad spend is really hard. Most deal groups require approval or payment, and manual posting is extremely time-intensive. To hit those click goals, you’ll almost certainly need some ad budget or more manpower.
Mix channels based on your audience
What works depends on who you’re selling to:
-
TikTok/IG short videos: tutorials, use cases, BTS
-
Pinterest: great for visual products
-
YouTube: reviews, how-tos, deep dives
-
Blog partnerships in your niche
Visual products tend to perform better on Reels/TikTok; technical products often shine with YouTube reviews or blogs.
Quick breakdown of what works where
| Channel | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook Groups | Targeted engagement | Find active groups, build relationships or work with admins |
| Deal sites | Quick traffic & sales | Competitive, works best with a solid discount |
| Organic niche discovery | Add value first, follow rules strictly | |
| Social paid ads | Scalable, consistent traffic | FB, IG, TikTok — full control over targeting |
| Google / Bing Ads | High-intent buyers | Catches people already looking to buy |
| Retargeting | Recover lost visitors | Affordable, strong conversion rate |
| Micro-influencers | Authentic reach | Lower cost, better engagement than big influencers |
From everything I’m seeing, the main lesson is pretty clear:
just posting links is not a strategy.
Organic takes time and real engagement — whether that’s in Facebook groups, Reddit, or with influencers. If you need predictable, scalable traffic fast, paid ads are the most reliable way to get there.
Also, people just don’t click random links without a reason. Even a small incentive like 10–15% off can drastically improve CTR.
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been in this exact position — stuck trying to hit aggressive off-site traffic goals with little to show for organic posting. What actually worked for you? No fluff, just real tactics.
Thanks in advance!

What works depends on who you're selling to. Try a few different approaches:
Think about what format fits your product. Visual products do better on Instagram/TikTok; functional or technical products often work better with YouTube reviews or blog posts.
Manual promotion is extremely time-consuming and doesn't scale well. You either spend on ads or spend on people. Doing it solo is tough.
You can also have them create content that you can reuse for organic posts or paid ads.
If you want fast, high-intent traffic:
SEO and display ads are also worth considering, especially retargeting — it brings back people who already showed interest.
Honestly, after three years in off-site promotion, the most effective method is still paid ads. The exposure cost is lower than most people think. Instead of hiring two people to do manual outreach and content, you could spend the same budget on ads and get much better results.
If you need to hit those targets, you probably need to allocate some budget to ads. Organic posting alone won't get you there without an existing audience.
