I launched a clothing product two weeks ago, running auto, broad, and exact campaigns.
The issue: Most of my impressions are on product pages (PP), but CTR there is abysmally low — like 0.01-0.05% (way below my category average of ~0.15%). On search pages, CTR is decent, around 0.5-1%, which makes this even more confusing.
I tried raising bids from $1.00 to $1.50 (a 50% increase) hoping to get better product page placements and boost CTR. Now I’m getting some impressions and clicks on Top of Search (TOS), but product page CTR is still terrible — it hasn’t budged at all.
My questions:
-
Is this a main image issue? Or is it just low new listing authority?
-
If raising bids pushed me to TOS, does that mean my bids are already high enough?
-
Why is product page CTR so stubborn — even with better placement?
Any insights from sellers who’ve dealt with this? I’m pulling my hair out over here.

Let me keep it real — you’re overcomplicating this:
Check 2026 clothing category benchmarks: product page CTR 0.1-0.2% is normal. If you’re below 0.05%, fix your image or add a coupon. If you’re in that 0.1% range, stop stressing — focus on TOS instead.
Trust me, I’ve wasted hundreds on product page bids — it’s not worth it. Shift 70% of your budget toward TOS/ROS modifiers, and let product pages run at lower bids (they’ll still get impressions, but you won’t waste money chasing a low-CTR lost cause).
New product, no reviews, no authority — Amazon puts you on product pages intentionally. It’s not a bug, it’s a test. The algorithm wants to see if your product can convert before it gives you better placements (TOS/ROS).
Focus on conversion not clicks right now. If you can convert at 2-3% on product pages (even with low clicks), Amazon will eventually push you to TOS. Stop throwing money at PP bids — it’s a waste.

Quick check to diagnose the issue — I use this for all my new clothing launches:
Also, check if you have a coupon. A green badge can lift CTR significantly even on product pages — buyers notice that shit instantly. I added a 10% coupon to my last launch, and PP CTR jumped from 0.03% to 0.12% in 2 days.
