OP:
Just heard from another seller that Temu’s EU marketplace is now requiring certifications for battery-powered products to come from a specific list of accredited labs. Not just any lab anymore.
Can anyone confirm if this is actually happening?
If true, does this mean costs for selling in the EU are going up? And what about products already listed – do we need to redo the certifications for those?
Would appreciate any insight from people who’ve dealt with this.

My advice: don’t wait. Check your products now, see if any certs are from non-approved labs. Start the re-testing process before they flag you. The downtime sucks.
The approved lab list is in the seller center under Compliance Center → Accredited Labs. It’s not a huge list – maybe 15-20 labs across Europe and China.
For already listed products, they don’t automatically flag everything. They seem to be targeting categories with higher safety risks first. Batteries, chargers, anything with lithium-ion, those got flagged immediately.
The 3-month grace period SellerA mentioned is real, but it’s not automatic. They’ll email you and give you a deadline. If you miss it, listing gets taken down.
Cost-wise, expect to pay €300–600 per product for re-testing, depending on which tests you need.
It’s a pain, but honestly, if you’re selling in the EU long-term, you should be using accredited labs anyway. The cheap certs are risky – I’ve seen sellers get flagged on Amazon years later.
The annoying part is Temu’s lab list is slightly different from Amazon’s. So if you have a cert that worked for Amazon, it might not be on Temu’s approved list. Definitely worth checking before you assume it’s fine.
The new policy applies to:
EMC (electromagnetic compatibility)
LVD (low voltage directive)
RoHS (restricted substances)
RED (radio equipment)
Battery safety (IEC 62133 / UL 2054)
Basically anything with a battery or that plugs in is affected.
There is a temporary grace period though. For some products, the platform will send samples for testing on their own. If it passes, you get a 3-month exemption window to get proper certification from an accredited lab. After that, you need to upload the new certificate or the listing gets pulled.
So it’s not an immediate shutdown, but you’re on a clock.
