I’m an Amazon seller looking to get started on eBay and had a few questions I can’t seem to find clear answers on.
-
How long does business account approval usually take? Can I sell only on eBay Germany or am I required to list internationally? Any heavy verification like video calls?
-
I want to focus on auto parts. Are there category restrictions or approvals needed? Can I list right after getting my account, or do I need special permission?

I have stock stored in a German 3PL warehouse (not eBay’s). Is that allowed for fulfillment? Any issues with using non-eBay logistics?
eBay’s official docs are pretty vague, so I’d really appreciate real seller input.
Thanks in advance.

To add to the above—if you’re serious about auto parts, look into eBay’s Parts & Accessories approval once you have some sales. It unlocks a lot more subcategories.
Also, German buyers are extremely picky about fitment. Make/model/year information has to be exact. Mess that up and returns will destroy your metrics.
Using your own 3PL in Germany is 100% fine—eBay doesn’t force you to use their fulfillment services.
Just make sure:
Heads up: some 3PLs are slow to scan and update tracking. Test their reliability first before scaling up—eBay watches your valid tracking rate closely.
Safety-related parts like brakes, airbags, tires need extra approval or compliance documents.
Better start with smaller stuff: lighting, interior trim, mirrors, etc., to build up your seller history, then ask for higher category access.
Don’t plan on listing engine parts or major safety components day one.
Approval for a business account is usually around 7–14 days, but it can fluctuate a bit.
You can definitely sell only on eBay Germany—just set your shipping and visibility to DE.
They’ll ask for ID, business documents, and bank statements, but video verification is pretty rare from what I’ve seen. Just have your identity and address proofs ready.
