I’m at my wit’s end.
I’ve sold this branded item for years, Brand Registry, no hijackers, no issues.
Then out of nowhere:
Amazon slaps a competitive external price on my ASIN.
It’s so low I lose money on every single unit.
Price above that? No Buy Box.
I found the problem: some seller on Walmart scraped my entire listing — same images, title, bullets.
They priced exactly at Amazon’s “competitive” price.
I filed a DMCA, Walmart took it down.
That was a week ago.
The Walmart listing is GONE.
But Amazon’s fake external price is still there.
I’ve opened so many cases I lost count.
Every reply:
-
“Lower your price”
-
“Wait 4 hours for the system to update”
I wait. Nothing changes.
Ever.
I tried flat-file delete — won’t work for me.
I have 2 old closed accounts with the same SKU, so Amazon still sees it in their system.
Has anyone actually permanently removed this external price match?
I can’t sell at a loss. What actually works?
Update: FIXED — I posted the solution in the comments.

This isn’t a “you” problem.
It’s an Amazon system problem.
Only real fixes:
None are acceptable.
Amazon needs a whitelist for brands.
Until then, we’re all stuck.
For high-ticket items: check landed price.
Amazon often compares pre-shipping prices vs your FBA (delivered) price.
Walmart: $12.99 + $6.99 shipping = $19.98
Our price: $7.99 Prime.
We’re cheaper. Bot doesn’t care.
The worst part: zero transparency.
Amazon won’t tell you where the price comes from.
Won’t tell you how often it crawls.
No permanent fix.
I’ve abandoned multiple ASINs and relaunched just to escape this.
After taking down the external listing, go to
Inventory > Manage Pricing > Fix a Price Alert
Submit proof the external listing is gone + your cost breakdown.
Took 5 days, but they manually overrode it.
