I’m considering Temu’s local store program in Australia. I see a lot of people using Temu here, so I’m thinking about getting in.
I have a few questions for anyone with experience:
Traffic – how does local store traffic compare to full-managed or semi-managed? Is there a noticeable boost?
Profitability – I keep hearing that full-managed and semi-managed are hard to make money on, even for factories. Is local store any better?
Control – do local stores actually have more control over pricing and operations, or is it still heavily platform-driven?
Would really appreciate any insights from people who’ve tried it. Thanks!

I’ve done local store in Europe (not Australia, but I imagine the setup is similar). A few things I learned:
If you have a way to differentiate your product (unique designs, better packaging, bundling), local store can work. If you’re just selling the same generic stuff as everyone else, you’ll end up in the same price war.
That said, the traffic bump is real. If you already have inventory in Australia (or whatever local market), it’s worth trying. Just don’t expect the platform to hold your hand.
I haven’t done Australia, but I’ve done local store in Europe (Hungary, Romania). The experience is probably similar:
