I work as an Amazon assistant and started my own side hustle selling OE auto parts. I know the products and have basic experience, but I’m completely stuck.
Here’s what I’m doing now:
-
Two ad campaigns: broad match for year/model + part, and ASIN targeting against competitors with higher prices or worse images
-
I just guess on bids and adjust randomly based on where I show up
-
Listing copied from competitors, basic images, partial A+
-
No reviews or QA — I don’t do any fake stuff
My problem: competitors with similar products, similar prices, and slightly better ratings are crushing me. I don’t get why.
A few honest questions:
-
How do you actually structure ads for OE parts with fitment?
-
How do I build a real keyword list when parts fit so many years/models?
-
What actually moves the needle for conversions and organic rank?
Would really appreciate real advice from people who actually sell auto parts.

Set a baseline using suggested bid, then add placement modifiers (like +30-50% for Top of Search). And don't change bids every day — give each campaign 7-14 days of consistent data before you touch anything.
I used to do the same thing. Stopped, and my ACOS dropped 15%. Patience pays.
Use keyword tools (ABA, Helium 10) to verify which models have actual search volume
Invest in professional images — for auto parts, clarity and detail matter. Show the part from multiple angles.
