I just launched a new product at $90, with:
-
Prime exclusive price: $80
-
$40 coupon
So final price for Prime buyers is around $40 — that’s about 44% off.
A bunch of my customers are saying they can’t leave reviews at all — they’re getting error messages.
And the few reviews that did go up don’t have the Verified Purchase badge.
I’m trying to figure out where the line is. A few honest questions:
-
Does discount depth actually affect review eligibility or the VP badge? If yes, what’s the real threshold? 30%? 40%?
-
Do all discount types count? Coupon, Prime exclusive, promo code, Lightning Deal?
-
Is discount calculated off the original $90 price or the Prime $80 price?
-
How long do normal reviews take to show up? 2–3 days? A week?
Support has been useless. Would love real-world experience from other sellers.

Bottom line for your listing:
It’s annoying, but that’s just how the system works now.
Your buyers aren’t blocked by *you* — they’re blocked by the algorithm seeing too-good-to-be-true pricing.
To fix your current issue:
Lower the coupon to 20–25% for future orders.
Your 44% is just too far in the red zone for reliable reviews.
You can still move units — but don’t expect VP until you dial the discount back.
A 25% coupon + Prime discount might look mild separately, but combined they can still kill VP.
Amazon watches the *final price*, not individual promotions.
My simple rule after years of testing:
If you need guaranteed early reviews, Vine is the only safe way — those always keep the green badge no matter the price.
